Haunted Hunt Helper ("HHH", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Haunted Hunt Helper:

Display Name (Username)

• Chosen by you when creating a profile, stored locally on your device and in our database when you post community content

Location Data

• Your approximate location or zip code, used to show nearby store sightings and auto-fill location fields
• We request location permission only when you use location-based features and do not track your location in the background
• Precise GPS coordinates are used in the moment and are not stored beyond what is necessary to provide the feature

Photos

• Images you voluntarily upload when logging a store sighting
• Photos are stored on our servers and are visible to all app users once approved by our content moderation system
• You may delete photos at any time by deleting the associated sighting

Store Sighting Data

• Store name, location, prop name, stock status, and any notes you enter when logging a sighting
• This information is shared publicly within the app community

Prop Tracking and Wishlist Data

• The props you add to your Haunted Tracker and Wishlist are stored in our database and associated with your username

Usage and Interaction Data

• Votes cast in Prop Rankings and category awards
• Budget Planner entries stored locally on your device
• App preferences and settings stored locally on your device

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate and improve Haunted Hunt Helper:

• Your username identifies your contributions to the community sightings feed and prop rankings
• Your location data is used to show nearby sightings and suggest nearby stores when logging a sighting
• Photos you upload are reviewed by an automated content moderation system to screen for inappropriate content before appearing in the community feed
• Sighting data you submit is displayed to all app users to help the community find Halloween props in stores
• Tracking and wishlist data is used to provide personalized alerts and statistics

3. Third-Party Services

Haunted Hunt Helper uses the following third-party services to operate:

Google Firebase / Firestore

• Our database provider. Community sightings, prop rankings, news banners, and tracked item lists are stored in Firebase Firestore, a Google Cloud service
• Firebase Privacy Policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Google Cloud Storage

• Photos you upload are stored in Google Cloud Storage via Firebase Storage

Google Cloud Vision API

• Photos you upload are automatically scanned by Google's Vision API for inappropriate content before being published
• Images are processed by Google for moderation purposes but are not retained by Google for advertising

Google Maps / Places API

• Used to suggest nearby stores when logging a sighting based on zip code or city name you enter

Expo / EAS

• The App is built and distributed using Expo's platform
• Basic device information may be collected by Expo for crash reporting and push notification delivery
• Expo Privacy Policy: expo.dev/privacy

We do not share your data with any other third parties. We do not sell your data under any circumstances.

4. Data Retention

• Community sightings remain in our database until you delete them or request account deletion
• Prop tracking and wishlist data remains until you remove items or delete your profile
• Photos remain until the associated sighting is deleted
• Local device data is retained until you uninstall the App
• We may retain anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked to any individual user for analytical purposes

5. How to Delete Your Data

Delete a Sighting

• Tap the delete button on any sighting you posted — this immediately removes it from the community feed and our database

Delete Your Profile

• Go to Profile → Delete Profile — this permanently removes your username and all locally stored data from your device

Request Full Data Deletion

• Contact us at support@hauntedhunthelper.com to request deletion of all server-side data associated with your username
• We will process deletion requests within 30 days

6. Children's Privacy

Haunted Hunt Helper is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@hauntedhunthelper.com and we will delete that information promptly.

7. User-Generated Content

• Sighting data and photos you submit are visible to all users of the App
• Do not include personally identifiable information in sighting notes or photos
• We reserve the right to remove any content that violates our Terms of Service
• Content is automatically screened for inappropriate material before publishing

8. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including secure cloud infrastructure via Google Firebase and automated content moderation for uploaded photos. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
